Where is Mosman Bay?
Mosman is located 8 kilometers north-east of Sydney's CBD (central business district). You cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge to get there.
Ferry
A great way to get to Mosman Bay Loft is by taking the ferry from Circular Quay to Mosman Bay Wharf. It takes 20 minutes and is a lovely way to travel. The Loft is then a short walk up a hill from the wharf.
Note - if you have a lot of luggage a taxi may be better as the hill is quite steep.
Car
Depending on traffic, it takes around 20 minutes to drive to the Loft from the city centre (8km) and about 45 minutes from the airport (21km).
When driving here for the first time be forewarned - Sydney's harbourside suburbs don't follow a street grid. Rather they trail around the undulating shore line and dodge sandstone rock faces. We will send you map clearly showing where the house is when you book.
Parking
There is plenty of unrestricted street parking close to the Loft
Getting to Mosman Bay Loft from Sydney Airport
You can either take a taxi, which will cost approximately AU$100 depending on traffic. Or you can go via public transport. To do this take the airport link train to Circular Quay (20 minutes), then the ferry to Mosman Wharf (20 minutes). With good connections you can get to the Loft in about an hour. It is a good idea to check the ferry timetable (see link below) as some days they only run once an hour.
For the airport train go here: http://www.airportlink.com.au
For the ferry timetable go to: www.transportnsw.info and click on 'timetables'.
The Avenue Road shops are a short drive away or take approximately 10 minute to walk to. Here there is a great (albeit expensive) deli, a bottle shop, fruit shop, convenience store, chemist and a few stylish cafes.
A little further up the road is Mosman Junction - think designer boutiques, gourmet foods, and an abundance of restaurants and cafes.
Mosman has many fantastic walks. Close to home, you can do our favorite walk from Mosman Wharf to Cremorne Point. The views of Sydney Harbour from this spot are fantastic. Take a picnic and check out "the secret garden" on your way past. We can tell you where it is.
The charming and family friendly Balmoral Beach is also a short drive away. You can walk to it if you're feeling energetic.
We also have the famous Taronga Zoo close by as well as many beautiful walks in the Sydney Harbour National Park (see below).
Positioned on the harbour and blessed with several pocket-sized harbour beaches, Mosman is one of the most sophisticated shopping and dining neighbourhoods in Sydney. Designer boutiques, antiques shops and hip cafes line Military Road while one of Sydney's most popular attractions, Sydney's Taronga Zoo, is nearby, at Bradleys Head.
For nature lovers, Mosman offers spectacular bushwalks such as the Taronga to Balmoral Walk, part of Sydney Harbour National Park.
With its winding beachside promenade walk, Balmoral Beach is popular for walking, jogging, kayaking or enjoying the beautiful ocean views. A strip of fabulous cafes and restaurants lines the promenade behind the beach which has enclosed harbour baths and wonderful picnic spots that make Balmoral a popular spot for families and locals.
Another perfect spot not to miss is secluded Chowder Bay where you can snorkel and dive in Sydney Harbour or enjoy casual dining by the harbour.
Headland Park Mosman is one of Sydney’s newest parklands which has spectacular harbour vews, walking trails, cafes, as well as artist's studios and galleries.
We have brochures at the Loft so you can read more about the local area.
